28th January 2023 is Data Privacy Day. Organised by the World Bank, it promotes awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust. At Infinity we take data privacy very seriously. Here’s what we do to ensure the confidentiality of the information our clients trust us with.
Data privacy in Asia
Since 2004 Surfshark has maintained a database of personal data that has been copied, transmitted, viewed and stolen. It puts the total number of data breaches worldwide at well over 15 billion.
With a rapidly increasing population of internet users and digital transformation occurring at a dizzying pace, it’s no surprise that Asia has become a target for cybercriminals looking to exploit poorly protected data for criminal gain. Malaysia, for example, was the 11th most breached country in the world in Q2 2022, while in 2022 Vietnam experienced a 436% spike in data breaches.
It is essential that precautions are taken at individual, company and government level to protect data. For companies like Infinity, that hold sensitive data relating to clients, strict rules and regulations are in place and enforced by regulatory authorities to protect our clients.

How Infinity protects your data
As a financial services provider we are obliged to collect and retain certain personal data but here are five ways we protect it:
- We only collect the information that we need – if it’s relevant to our business requirements we collect it, if not, we don’t.
- We keep your data to ourselves – Some data does need to be shared with our partners (e.g. insurers, investment providers) but this is done on a strict need-to-know basis. We only use your personal information to provide the services you have requested. We don’t share your data without your consent unless it is to comply with legal obligations imposted by governmental or judicial agencies or regulatory bodies. When this is necessary, we share your data under proper authority.
- We never share your data for marketing purposes – We hate being sold to by third parties and we understand that you probably do too. We guarantee that we never share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We keep your data secure – Infinity takes the threat of data breaches very seriously. Our strict security systems are designed to prevent unauthorised access to your personal information by anyone, including our staff.
- Confidentiality is paramount – All our staff sign confidentiality agreements. Anyone authorised to access your personal information has pledged to keep it confidential.
